Our Club

The club started in early 1982. We first met at the CWA rooms in Richmond with only one or two tables of players. Those first players were Diana and Phil Ellis, Rex and Dot Gunton, Dennis Raymond and Glen Prichard. The room became unavailable and so we moved to a church hall in Windsor for a few weeks before we moved to a side room in the council chambers. This was the old council chambers that then became the library and still later a solicitor's office.

Later on, Di Ellis became a member of the management committee for the North Richmond Community Centre and it became our venue for several years. Again, there were other issues that meant we needed to move. The North Richmond Sporting Club became our new venue. We were in a small back room for many years. The Sporting Club was taken over by Panthers and was redeveloped. This then provided us with more space and better storage facilities until December 2013 when they wanted to increase the rent by 60% in 2 years.

We moved to the Macedonian Hall "Kotori" at 339 Londonderry Rd (entrance by Reynolds Rd Londonderry, nearly opposite the greyhound track) in December 2013 and started playing there in January 2014. After some issues at the Macedonian Hall, we left there on Saturday 31 January 2015 and started at the Richmond Race Club on Tuesday 3rd February 2015. We started at Suite 3, Level 1, North Richmond Shopping Village on Wednesday 2nd November 2016. This lasted until several rooms including our room were developed into a medical centre.

We moved to the Richmond Girl Guide Hall on Sunday 11th November 2018. Our first session was on Monday 12th November.
